William Marvin Humphries, 83, of Prince George passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Born September 12, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Rachel Humphries, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Humphries; and son, William “Skipper” Humphries, Jr.
Bill was a longtime member of the Colonial Heights Church of the Nazarene. A veteran of the United States National Guard, he proudly served his country for four years. He retired from Allied Chemical after years of dedicated service. Music was a major part in his life, having been a member of the Lamp Lighters Gospel Group for many years as a singer, guitar player and piano player. He was also an avid fisherman and gardener, and his carpentry work was beautiful.
He is survived by his five children, Joe, Angie, Tammy, Cheryl, and Jeff; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Jean; and other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
