William Myers Jr.

William B. Myers Jr., 85, of Ettrick, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011. He was the son of the late William B Myers Sr. and Ida Virginia Bedford Myers. Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances U. Myers; four sisters and six brothers. He served his country in the Unites States Army for 26 years, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Medal. After retiring he worked for the Pinkerton Security for 19 years. Mr. Myers enjoyed NASCAR racing and old John Wayne movies. The family would like to thank Heartland Home Care for the love and care to Mr. Myers. He is survived by his children, Cathie Myers and husband, Jimmy Lee of Ettrick, Steven Myers and wife, Vicky of West Virginia, Trenton Myers of Ettrick, and William J. Myers of Petersburg; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow with military honors in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
