William Alfred "Bill" Powell, 62, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William E. and Reba West Powell, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara P. Unterzuber, and Nancy P. Roberts; and a grandson, Brandon Scott Powell. Bill was the retired owner of Powell's Body Shop Inc. of Petersburg, and a lifetime member of the Rowanta Hunt Club in Carson, where he was known as "Hippy." He is survived by his wife, Doshie King Powell; sons, William A. Powell Jr. and wife, Kathy of Dinwiddie, and Michael Lester Edward Powell and wife, Jenifer of Colonial Heights; daughters, Theresa P. Belcher and husband, Melvin of Chesterfield, Amy P. Mansini and husband, Randy of Chesterfield, and Tracy P. Wrenn and husband, Matt of Dinwiddie; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Keith Powell and fiancée, Diane Mann of Sutherland; sister, Judy A. Bragaw and husband, Rex of Chester; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
