Sergeant First Class, Retired, William B. Shannon, 75, of Prince George, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Clarence and Rose Shannon on August 30, 1943. SFC Shannon proudly served in the United States Army for 29 years, touring Vietnam, Germany and Korea. He attended Fort Lee Catholic Memorial Chapel and enjoyed watching boxing, UFC and sports. He had a love for doo-wop and jazz, but above all loved his family. He was preceded in death by his Uncle Phil. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lee Irene Shannon; daughters, Mary Davis (Derrick) and Rosemary Ray (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Juliana M. Owens, Mia E. Davis and Mika R. Davis; brother, Bobby Shannon (Joanmarie) and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805.
