William Sheffield

Sheffield, William Francis "Billy", 81, of Chester, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018. He was born November 26, 1936, in Petersburg, Va., to the late James E. Sheffield and Mary Frances Benson Sheffield. Billy was preceded in death by his brother James E. Sheffield Jr.; and two daughters, Mary Angela Sheffield and Charlene Leslie Alderman. Billy is survived by his wife, Charlotte F. Sheffield; two daughters, Stephanie Radcliff (Bob) and Rebecca Jarman (Glenn); one son, William B. Sheffield (Shannon); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother Frank Sheffield. Billy was signed to the Washington Senators professional baseball team in the 1950s. He was also an avid fisherman and golfer. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
