William (Bill) Lawrence Sprinkle, 91, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at his home in Prince George, Virginia. Born March 17, 1926 in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Robert Lee Sprinkle and Lilian Nichols Sprinkle of Reidsville, North Carolina, Bill was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Nelson Sprinkle of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Bill retired as a Civilian Army Reserve Supply Officer for the Hampton Roads area in Fort Eustis, Virginia and was a WWII Navy veteran that had served on a flagship in the Pacific. He previously worked at the Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia and at the U.S. Naval Supply Center in Norfolk, Virginia. Bill was also an avid golfer and volunteered as a Marshall at the Kempsville Greens Golf Course in Virginia Beach. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Collins Sprinkle; his son, Gregory Lawrence; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan, and Katherine; as well as his daughter, Robin Sprinkle McLeish and her son, Robert. All funeral services will be private with interment taking place in Albert B. Horton Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434.
