William Stotesberry

William C. "Bill" Stotesberry, 69, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at his home after a courageous fight with cancer. Bill was born in Pantego, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Raleigh H. and Cassie Latham Stotesberry, and was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Sherry E. Mason, a brother, Horace H. Stotesberry, and a sister, Myrtle Respess. Mr. Stotesberry was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and retired from DuPont after 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rigby Stotesberry; step-children, Perry S. Mason of Colonial Heights, Bud Mason and wife Kathy of Sutherland, and Missy Skaggs and husband Jay of Chester; step-grandchildren, Korey & Melissa Mason, and Elizabeth Skaggs; two children from a previous marriage, Cindy Davidson and husband Darryl of Ashland and W.C. Stotesberry Jr.; grandson, Kris Dyer; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Lora S. Luton and husband Charles of North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Stotesberry and Mary R. Fable; two brothers-in-law, Buck Jack Rigby of Colonial Heights and Bob Rigby and wife Shirley of Prince George; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at East Matoaca Cemetery with the Reverend Graham Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
