William Urban, 92, of Petersburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Born in Dinwiddie, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kosar Urban, and was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Urban, his son, William E. Urban; three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Adolph Urban Sr.; and three sisters, Elbie Chambers, Agnes McCroskey, and Elsie Emory. He was a veteran with the United States Army having served during World War II, a member of Livingstone Baptist Church, and the Petersburg American Legion Post #2. Mr. Urban was a retired, self-employed carpenter and contractor. He is survived by his caregiver and loving companion of 21 years, Lieselotte (Lisa) Lee of Petersburg; a granddaughter, Ashley Urban; a grandson, Christopher Cypher; a brother, George Urban and wife, Creola of Dinwiddie; two sisters, Rose Watson of California, Mary Ryan of Petersburg; and a special nephew, Adolph Urban Jr. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Carl Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers welcome.
