William Wilkinson

William Gerald Wilkinson, 74, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Born in Winnsboro, South Carolina, he was the son of the late C.B. and Annie Hoover Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He retired from BASF as a supervisor and was a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284 and the Colonial Heights Optimist Club. He is survived by his wife, Sherry H. Wilkinson; children, William Dennis Wilkinson of Mebane, North Carolina, Lisa Marie McGilberry, and Susan Wilkinson McCurry both of Birmingham, Alabama, Dusty Wayne Anderson of Chesterfield, Christy Dawn Morel of Colonial Heights; and grandchildren, Brent Wilkinson, Brittany Wilkinson, Stephanie Mullins, Brandy Howard, Peyton McGilberry, Miles McGilberry, Libby Anderson, Lexi Anderson, and Audrey Morel; special caregiver, Samantha Hart. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Avenue, Colonial Heights with the Reverend Jerry Haywood and Mr. Mike Hathcock officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday at church 1 hour prior to the service with the American Legion service at the end of visitation.
