William L. Woodruff, 83, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at his residence. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Ida Luter Woodruff. Mr. Woodruff was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II. He retired from Brenco, and was a former City of Colonial Heights employee. He is survived by his wife, Jean T. Woodruff of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Sue Foresta and husband, Vince of Petersburg; grandson, David Y. Kissner II and wife, Tina; great-grandchildren, Luke, Jillian, and Jared Kissner, step-great-granddaughter, Jessa Ackerman; two sisters, Margaret Saunders of Hampton and Bobbie Sue Barlow of Bracey. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Deborah Fair officiating. Inurnment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
