William Young Jr.

William Lawrence Young Jr., 87, of Chesterfield, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Lucy Corr Village. Mr. Young was born in Dinwiddie County, Virginia and was the son of the late William Lawrence Sr., and Nellie Knott Young. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1940 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1950. Mr. Young served as District Manager for Gulf Oil Co. for 38 years, and was a member of the Blandford Masonic Lodge # 3 since 1950. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Jeanette W. Young; one son, Lawrence W. Young and wife, Teresa; two daughters, Linda Y Blanks, and Teresa Y Taylor and husband, Stafford; grandchildren, Casey, Nick, Matt, Brooke, Carter, and Bradley; brother, Grayson H. Young; and a sister, Millicent Y . Kissner. A funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Mary Beth Blinn officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Monday, October 26, 2009 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
