Willie D. Bond, 82, of Chesterfield County, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home, following a period of declining health. He was a native of Scotland Neck, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Willie E. and Maude Daniel Bond. Mr. Bond retired from CSX Railroad in 1989 with 35 years of service. He was also a member of the Dixie Bowmen Archery Club and the Virginia Bow Hunters Association. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy R. Bond; one daughter, Dawn Bond Ackley and husband, Larry; one son, Daniel Bond and wife, Lori, five grandchildren, Josiah, Micah and wife, Liesel & Kerris Ackley, and Loran & Danielle Bond. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Edgecombe Memorial Park, US Highway 258 South, Tarboro, North Carolina 27886 with Dr. Ed Conner officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
