SFC Willie Randolph James, (US Army,ret.) 78, of Hopewell passed away on October 19, 2015 at his residence after a long illness. Born on December 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Charlie Getter and Mary Monroe James, and was also preceeded in death by two brothers, Charlie Hodges James and Edward S. James; and three sisters, Irene Lewis, Elizabeth Campbell and Altamease Louise Mallard. During his time with the United States Army, Mr. James served several tours in Korea and Vietnam and was also stationed in Berlin, Germany for some time. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Rosemarie James; sister, Mercie Lee Flowers of Jacksonville, Florida; stepson, David Dunham and wife, Rhonda of Wauseon, Ohio; numerous dear nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Eric Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com
