Willie Bernard "Mule" Newton Sr., 83, of Prince George, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late Bernard Jackson and Addie Lee Maitland Newton. Mr. Newton was a Korean Conflict United States Army Veteran, and retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company as a pipefitter. He is survived by his wife, Helena E. Newton; son, Bernie Newton and wife, Tina of Dinwiddie; daughters, Deborah Dear and husband, Bernard of Dinwiddie, Cheryl Griffin and husband, Randy of Hedgesville, West Virginia, Kathy Elder and husband, Jimmy of Dinwiddie, Cindy Newton of Dinwiddie; step-son, Mike Perkinson and wife, Estelle of Chester, step-daughter, Teresa Maupin and husband Tim of Richmond, sister Dorothy Savage of Littleton; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road 23805 with the Reverend Carl Weaver officiating. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Petersburg.
