Winifred Heckel

Winifred D. Heckel, 87, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Born in Elkins, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harold Daniels and Edna H. Newsome and was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur B. Daniels; children, Timothy Bryan and Phillip Arthur Heckel; and grandchild, Christie Ann Heckel. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Winifred enjoyed puzzling, and was a lucky bingo player, but nothing was more important to her than spending time with her family and preparing them meals. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #284. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Richard R. Heckel; children, Richard Edward Heckel (Marilyn), Brenda Heckel Shelburne (Eli), Charles Lynn Heckel (Patti), Stephen Wayne Heckel (JoAnne, deceased), and Cathy Heckel Colletti (Tom); 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Richard Daniels; and sister, Vivian D. Laderach. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 17111 Jefferson Davis Hwy, South Chesterfield, VA 23834, with Father Danny Cogut, Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
