Winnie Bowe

Winnie Alberta Butler Bowe, 95, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018. She was born in Halifax, North Carolina to Edwin and Lucy Butler on July 13, 1923. Winnie retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company after 29 years of service. She loved cooking, bluegrass, and ice cream, but nothing was more important to her than spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bowe Sr.; and children, Shirley Lang and Stanley "Bubba" Bowe Jr. She is survived by her grandchildren, Tammie Boydkin (Al), Roy Francis (Dawn), and Michelle Elmore (Michael); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and her beloved dog, Buster. Visitation will take place at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 South Crater Rd., Petersburg, Virginia 23805, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018. A graveside service will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd., South Prince George, Virginia 23805 at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.
