Woodrow Castello

Woodrow T. Castello 96, of Chesterfield, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Sunflower Gardens Assisted Living in Hopewell. He was born November 4, 1920 in Bertie, North Carolina to the late Redden A. and Annie Hoggard Castello and was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Louise Castello. Mr. Castello was a faithful member of Matoaca Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He worked as a Supervisor for Titmus Optical for 20 years and retired as a Supervisor after many years of service from Coburn Optical. He is survived by a daughter, Lois Castello Griffin of Matoaca; a son, Spencer W. Castello of Currituck Co., NC; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren one sister, Helen C. Jernigan of Bertie, NC, and two nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Matoaca Baptist Church 6409 River Rd, South Chesterfield, Virginia 23803 with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
