Zelda Whitley

Zelda "Ann" Whitley, 84, of Petersburg, passed away March 13th, 2017. She was born June 2nd, 1932 in Norfolk, Va. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Evans, and Carrie Evans. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James E. Whitley, and son, Thomas E. Whitley. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Petersburg. Among other things, Ann was active in church groups, a den mother to a Boy Scout Troop, member of the Petersburg Jr. Woman's Club, The Petersburg Woman's Club, The Petersburg Garden Club. Ann devoted her life to her loving husband, Jimmy, and her family. She loved to socialize with friends and opened her home to many people over the years. She also loved interior design; working alongside her husband to restore their old farmhouse and turning it into a lovely and inviting home. Ann is survived by her brother, Acey Evans, daughter, Janet Whitley, and son Timothy Whitley (Louise), Grandchildren, Evan Whitley, Kyle Whitley, Travis Whitley (Tori), Russell Lammey, and 3 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held, Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, with the Reverend Jerry Wicker, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
